Introduction
This job description establishes the basic function, requirements, reporting relationships, authority, and responsibilities of the Field Supervisor
Basic Function: to provide technical expertise and coordination to the Operations Manager and Field Techs in ensuring quality, on time, and profitable completion of assigned jobs
Reporting Relationships
The Field Supervisor has a collaborative reporting relationship to the President and to the Operations Manager
Field Techs report to the Field Supervisor on all matters that require technical expertise
Authority
Plan and requisition materials and equipment for assigned jobs
Provide on-site supervision and technical oversight of work done
Evaluate the job performance of Field Techs
Requirements
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent combination of experience and education
Licensing/Certification: Journeyman Electrician’s License and a clean MA Driver’s License
Experience: At least two years’ experience in electrical service projects, preferably in a supervisory position
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities
Knowledge of electrical service procedures
Ability to translate blue-prints and plans into job layout
Interpersonal and communication skills necessary in building, guiding and motivating work teams to accomplish set goals
Tasks & Responsibilities
Assist the Operations Manager in reviewing plans and specifications for assigned jobs to ensure understanding of job requirements
Work directly with the Operations Manager and Field Techs to ensure the availability of all requirements necessary to complete assigned jobs
Assist the Operations Manager in reviewing and assigning scheduled jobs to the right Field Techs with regard to the required skills and qualifications
Communicate to the Field Techs the technical aspects of assigned jobs
Assist the Operations Manager and Field Techs with completing/approving material requisitions
Assist the Operations Manager and Field Techs in troubleshooting and answering technical questions
Assist in training new hires and cross training existing employees on M.E’s technical operating policies and procedures
Enforce compliance with safety regulations and operating guidelines for Field Technicians, notifying the office immediately, of any accident or problem at job sites
Ensure Field Tech discipline and professionalism at the job site
Ensure the security of tools, material and supplies at the job-site
Ensure that trucks are clean and well stocked
Ensure that routine truck maintenance and inspection is performed
Assist with job estimating tasks, as needed
Perform electrical, security, fire
Complete and submit change orders and other job reports to communicate to the Operations Manager the progress of assigned jobs
Ensure clean up and proper disposal of unused material and that tools and equipment are properly returned to the truck after the job is completed
Evaluate the job performance of Field Techs
